A taste of Spain

So all of my friends are turning twenty one and I still have a year, but on a positive note I get to go out to eat at some really good places to celebrate!! And maybe steal a sip or two of their mimosas...Meson Sabika is a Spanish restaurant that serves tapas and on Sundays they serve a brunch! I got to go on a Sunday so that means ALL YOU CAN EAT SPANISH FOOD!!!! My Spanish food addiction was fully satisfied to say the least. For our first course I got a bunch of fruit, tortilla de patata (a Spanish tortilla, which is eggs and potatoes), greens wrapped in roast beef, some mushrooms, and the cucumber with salmon. My favorite part of the appetizer course was the cucumber with cream cheese, caviar, and smoked salmon..so good!

You can see what I had in my second course in the picture below. On the bottom right is the paella (a Spanish specialty, and one of my favorites!), bottom left is salmon and spinach in a tomato sauce, above that is a pasta dish with cream sauce and roasted bell peppers, and way in the back is a portobello mushroom stuffed with veggies and topped with cheese. The mushroom was my favorite! It melts in your mouth and it had so many different flavors, I highly suggest it! I went to Spain for a study abroad trip last summer so this restaurant made me feel like I was back in Spain! All of the flavors were spot on! I am so happy that I found a restaurant near me that fulfills my Spanish food cravings!! All that is missing is the fact that in Spain I was legal..YO QUIERO UN VINO!

For dessert was flan of course! Flan is a typical Spanish dessert. It has a consistency that is close to a cheesecake, but it is very unique so it is hard to compare it to something else. Guess you just have to go try it!! This flan was an upgraded flan because with a chocolate cookie crust and a hazelnut creme layer, and finished off with some strawberry sauce on top! It was so good and refreshing for the hot summer morning! If you are into trying new flavors from other countries, or if you are obsessed with Spanish food (like me) definitely check out Meson Sabika! The link to their website and directions of how to get there are in the tab called restaurants! Xo, B.
